Keith Sampson
1968 - 2009

 

UNION GAP - Keith (A) Sampson, 40, of Union Gap, WA, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009 at his home.

Keith was born Dec. 27, 1968 in Yakima, WA to Jesse Sampson and Paula Winnier. Keith lived most of his life in White Swan, WA. He attended school in Vancouver, WA, where he finished high school at Washington State School for the Deaf. Keith liked to go to the mountains, go fishing with his father, wood cutting (not a block of wood, he couldn't split) and watch movies. He enjoyed increasing his vocabulary in ASL Sign. He participated in Intertribal Deaf Counsel, and enjoyed learning more about his Indian Culture.

Keith is survived by his mother, Paula Winnier of Union Gap, WA; father, Jesse Sampson of Toppenish, WA; his twin brother, Kevin (B) Sampson of Yakima, WA; and sisters, Christy Sampson of Harrah, WA, Joy Sampson and Morning Star Sampson both of Yakima, WA; nephew, Joe Fish; nieces, Irene Sampson and Angel Eyle; great nephew, Moeleco Serna-Sampson; and numerous other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Martin Speedis.

Dressing services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2009 at Merritt Funeral Home in Wapato, WA. Following the dressing services, he will be transported to the Toppenish Creek Longhouse in White Swan, WA for overnight services. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28th at the longhouse, with burial to follow in the Reservation Community Memorial Park, Wapato, WA. Donations may be made in Keith's name to Noah's Ark in care of Merritt Funeral Home. Merritt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
